A Parent-Led Movement for Safer Apps
The App Store Accountability Act is a project of the Child First Policy Center, dedicated to putting parents back in charge at the digital front door.
Parent Powered
We were founded by parents who saw firsthand how easy it is for children to encounter harmful content and dangerous contacts through app stores.
Safety First
We believe practical, common-sense safeguards at the point of download can prevent the harms families are already experiencing.
Child First
Every child deserves a safer online experience. Our work puts the wellbeing of children and the rights of parents above platform convenience.
Why We Started
Today, parents have little to no meaningful involvement when a child downloads an app. App stores are not required to show parents the risks, the age ratings are misleading, and age gates are easily bypassed. The result is a system that leaves families in the dark until harm happens.
The App Store Accountability Act changes that by requiring meaningful parental involvement and clear, accurate safety information before a child downloads an app. It is a simple, practical step toward a safer digital world for kids.

A Project of the Child First Policy Center
We exist to put kids first in the digital age.
The Child First Policy Center works to advance child first policies that protect children and empower families in a digital age. The App Store Accountability Act is our flagship effort to bring parents and policymakers together for safer app stores.
